Osu Salem School

What if the 19th century building of the Osu Salem Presbyterian School was brought back to life with a new purpose? The proposal for the regeneration of this heritage building designed in 1843 and completed in 1865 by the Basel Mission in Accra aims at contributing to safeguarding the spirit of the place while positively impacting the Osu community.

Forni Stores

The Forni Stores form part of the historical buildings within the Cruise Passenger Terminal waterfront, located in Valletta’s Grand Harbour. This project highlighted two critical aspects of heritage conservation: the necessity for ongoing, interdisciplinary studies to fully understand the distinct phases of a building and their influence on construction techniques and historical structures; and the importance of careful recording and documenting prior and during interventions to support significant restoration efforts. The project underlined the evolution of restoration theories and standards and their application on local heritage.

Glasshouse at Villa Bologna

The Glasshouse is part of a wider strategy to revive and safeguard Villa Bologna’s heritage. This area of Maltese heritage which has been neglected in the post-war years, yet it is critical to maintaining a sustainable approach. The intervention focuses not only on the building itself but, most importantly, emphasizes heritage valorisation by addressing the architectural fabric. By viewing heritage as a valuable asset and propagating the native Maltese flora, Villa Bologna’s gardens are maintained, promoting the idea of circularity and sustainable development.
