AP Valletta is looking to employ a highly motivated, hands-on and enthusiastic person to join its international team as a Conservation Architect.

Role Highlights

The candidates should be qualified in the conservation field, knowledgeable about conservation theory and practice, and conversant with all legal aspects of the industry, including permits required and associated documentation.  She/he should have some years of job experience, strong leadership skills and have an aptitude for or interest in work in heritage-related projects at all stages. The ability to carry out heritage research and interpretation is essential. Technical skills relative to the production of architectural and construction drawings and report-writing are also required.

All in all, it is expected that the successful candidate will work on a variety of projects, independently or within a specific team, for which she/he will need excellent communication skills. AP Valletta today consists of a team, currently of around fifty architects, working in our recently renovated studio in Valletta.  The successful candidate will also participate in the redefinition of the office’s critical engagement with Heritage by contributing novel ways of perceiving, understanding and practicing Conservation.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Architecture and Conservation, MSc. in Conservation Technology or similar.
  • Minimum of 5 years post-graduate work experience in Conservation; the criteria for selection will prioritise skill set and aptitude, not necessarily experience.
  • A passion for heritage and historical research.
  • Enthusiasm, self-motivation, a strong work ethic and passion about different aspects of design.
  • Ability to work individually as well as in collaborative settings.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong technical and graphic skills.
  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication in English. Any other language is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD. Revit will be considered an asset.
  • Preference will be given to candidates immediately eligible to work in Malta.
